With the Engineering Analysis ModuleTM (EAMTM), you can create and manage reference models. A reference model is a three dimensional model of a maintained area. For example, for a waterway, this could be a model of a shipping channel.

A CARIS1 reference model is saved as an XML format file. This file stores the geographic positions of the points and surfaces that make up the template in the model, the metadata for the template, and the default names for features.

Once a reference model is created, it can be used to:

calculate volumes,

view conformance analyses,

detect shoals,

calculate coverage differences,

perform 3D analyses,

create profiles, and

edit or add reference model features.
