Before you can access a database, either in the Administration Tools or from BASE Editor, it must be started. Starting a database causes a process to be started in the database.
To start a database:
1. Double-click the Database Properties icon.
All of the databases registered on the current node manager are displayed in the Available Databases list.
2. Select an available database to start (with a status of Stopped).

3. Select the Start command.
Menu | Database > Start |
Pop-up | Start |
After a few moments, the status of the selected database is displayed as Started, as shown below.

Users may now login to the selected database. See Connecting to a Database for information on database access.
4. [Optional] For each database you want to start, repeat steps 2 to 3.
By default, all registered databases are stopped, but they can be set to start automatically.
5. [Optional] Select the Automatic Start command to have a database start automatically whenever the CARIS Bathy DataBASE Node Manager Windows service restarts on the server computer.
Menu | Database > Automatic Start |
Pop-up | Automatic Start |
This can occur when the server computer is rebooted or when the administrator manually restarts the service in the Windows Services dialog.
