Create areas or lines by re-using an existing area or closed line.

The Click Within Edges command works on a single feature. You can select multiple rings only if there is a single outer boundary. For example, you can select a lake, then all of its islands.

The Edit All Features command cannot be used with Click Within Edges.

Procedure

1. Select the Create Area Feature or Create Line Feature command.

Create > New Feature > Area

Create > New Feature > Line

2. Select an acronym and set any necessary attributes as described in Create.

3. Select the Click Within Edges command.

4. Click inside an area or a closed line.

If nothing is selected, click as close as possible to the edge of the feature you want to duplicate.

If the selected area is a subset of the area you want, click again in the neighbouring part of the area.

5. Select the Create Area Feature or Create Line Feature command a second time or press <End>.

The new area is or closed line is created. It has the same spatial data as the selected area and the attributes you entered in step 2.
