BASE Manager : Introduction : Working with Databases

Working with Databases

The tools in the BASE Manager licensed module let you work with BDB Server to create and maintain collections of data in databases that are shared among many users.

You must have the BDB Server software installed and a database running to use the database tools in BASE Editor.

When connected to a database, you will see a database connection layer in the Layers window. To view and select objects in the database, a query layer must be created from the database connection layer. See New Query for more information on queries.

When the database connection or query layers are selected, properties for the current layer are displayed in the Properties window. See Working with Databases for more information on database properties. Most database-related transactions will be run from one of these layer types.

In addition to the database connection layer, you will also see a Recycle Bin layer. This layer contains objects that have been deleted from the database connection layer. The content of this layer is not displayed by default, it must be turned on manually. For more information on the Database Recycle Bin layer, see Database Recycle Bin.
