CARIS HIPS and SIPS Help : Support Files Guide : Bathy DataBASE Server Support Files : environment.xml

environment.xml

The environment.xml file contains the settings defined in the Environment Settings tab of the Administration Tools. This file is updated each time the Environment Settings are changed. The default values for these settings are defined during installation, but some can be changed if necessary. The CARIS Bathy DataBASE Node Manager <version> service must be stopped before making changes to this file.

The settings in the environment.xml file are described below:

BAG_HOME: The location of the BAG_Support folder, which contains files that make it possible to store BAG format data on a database.

BathyBinDir: The installation location of the Bin directory for the application.

BathyObjectPool: The location of the default BathyServerPool.xml file, which contains user definable attributes and attribute values for databases.

BathyObjectProfile: The location of the default BathyServerProfile.xml file, which contains the user definable profile for databases.

FilesystemTable: The location of the FilesystemTable.bfs file, which provides the node locations for databases on the node manager.

GDAL_DATA: The location of the folder containing datum mapping support files for the application. These files provide definitions for datums that are unknown to CARIS. See Datum Mapping for more information.

goXerrors: The location of the file containing the content for error messages displayed by the application.

Install_Dir: The installation directory of the application. By default, this is C:\Program Files\CARIS\BDB Server\<version>.

licenseHost_key: The license being used to run the application. For a local license, this variable will be populated as "no-net". For a network license, it will be populated with the name of the license server to which the application is connected.

NodeManagerName: The name assigned to the node manager during installation.

uslXboundcrs: The location of the boundcrs.dat file, which associates coordinate reference systems to datum transformations. See Transformation Linking File for more information.

uslXdatum: The location of the datum.dat file, which defines the shifts, rotations and scale factor that are necessary to convert data from the given datum to WSG84.

uslXenv: The location of the file that defines the environment settings displayed in the Environment tab of the Administration Tools.

uslXEPSG: The location of the epsg.db file, which contains EPSG coordinate reference systems and coordinate transformations developed by the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP). See Coordinate Reference Systems for more information.

uslxmapDef: The location of the mapdef.dat file, which contains a list of projections and definitions needed to assign a projection and coordinate system to a dataset.

uslXSRS: The location of the spatial reference file that defines the available EPSG coordinate systems.

uslXsystemgridshifts: The location of the folder that contains grid shift files, which are used during coordinate reference system transformations.

uslXunitsTable: The location of the unitstable.xml files, which defines the units of measure that are available in the application.

It is important to update these settings if any changes are made to the files involved, otherwise errors may occur.
