Dynamic cartography can be used to interactively change the orientation of a beacon tower. All dynamic cartography options are read from the DCBCNSPP.xsl file.
When dynamic cartography is applied, an annotation link is automatically made between the BCNSPP geographic feature and symovr (symbol override) cartographic feature.
Prerequisite: A BCNSPP feature is available with the following attributes:
• BCNSHP = 1
• CATSPM = 2
• COLOUR = 3
1. Select the BCNSPP feature.
![]()
2. Select the Edit Cartography command.
The symovr cartographic feature is associated to the BCNSPP feature through an annotation link. The symovr feature is listed in the Selection window.
3. Superselect the symovr feature in the Selection window.
A rotate icon is displayed above the BCNSPP feature.
![]()
4. Position the cursor on the rotate icon
5. Press the mouse button and move the mouse.
As the cursor is moved to either left or right, the orientation of the arm changes. The amount of rotation is controlled by beaconrotate rule in edittemplates.xml.
