Component Time Stamps

A vessel’s configuration can change over time: For example, different squat settings may be used in a survey, the position of the transducers on a boom may change, the TPU assumptions may change, and so on.

To accommodate these changes, each component in the vessel file can contain multiple sets of attributes, which are shown as rows in the component’s Attributes window. The Date and Time fields in the rows serve as time stamps that indicate when that set of attributes began to be valid. When HIPS and SIPS processes survey data from the vessel, it uses the most active set of attributes that were valid at the time when the surveyed was performed.

Below is an example of time stamps showing changes in vessel configuration.

Time in HIPS is based on the recorded reference time. No distinction is made for UTC.
