You can use HPD Product Editor or S-57 Composer to create products from source data, then update and validate these products and export them to platform-independent exchange sets.
Products can be:
• S-57 products
• S-100 products
• Generic products
When vector database products have a non-WGS84 coordinate reference system (CRS), the source data will be transformed to WGS84 for the product.
Customized features can be added to a product without changing the source data.
Validation consists of a set of quality control checks which ensure compliance with the appropriate standards.
S-57 and S-100 products
You can perform the following tasks:
• Create a product
• Open a product for querying, viewing, and editing.
• Update the product from the source database.
• Create updates, re-issues, and new editions.
For S-57 products, you can also create exchange sets as part of the creation process and edit and edit them using the S-57 Exchange Set Editor.
S-57 products can be ENC, IENC, IENC Overlay, or AML.

Generic products
A generic product is a filtered set of features and attributes from the source database. These can be exported to a GML (Geographic Markup Language) file, which is an XML-based standard for encoding geographic data. GML files can be opened in third-party applications or reproduced in nautical and other types of publications.
You can perform the following tasks for generic products.
• Open a product for querying and viewing.
• Create a generic product dataset from the database.
• Update the product from the source database.
