Colour Weighting

HCRF chart presentation can be customized by using colour weight files to darken or lighten specific colours in HCRF palette files.

The weight file lists colour tokens in a colour palette file along with weight values that can be used to bold or lighten those colours in the HCRF chart. For more information on palettes, see Palette Files.

For example, the day99.xml palette file contains Black and Nautical_Purple colour tokens. A colour weight file for the palette would contain the following entries for these tokens:

Black 2.0

Nautical_Purple 0.5

When the chart is exported, all black features are displayed as bolder than normal. Features in the Nautical_Purple colour will appear lighter. The format for colour weight entries in the file is as follows:

colour_token weight_value

The default weight value is 1 and minimum value is 0. There is no maximum value. A colour token in the weight file must also be listed in the corresponding palette file.

Weight files use the following name convention: weight[n].txt where n is the palette number. For example, a weight file for the day99 palette is named weight99.txt.

No colour weight files are included in the installation. You must create your own.
