Create Corridor

Menu

Create > Lines > Corridor

Tool

Create a new area around existing lines or areas.

A corridor can be created inside and outside the existing area, inside only, or outside only.

The size of a corridor is determined by the distance of the cursor from the selected line when digitizing; the further the cursor is from the line, the wider the corridor will be. The Set Corridor Offset command can be used to create the corridor at an exact width if necessary.

By default, a corridor extends to both sides of a line or both inside and outside an area. To restrict the corridor to one side of the feature, press and hold <Shift> while digitizing the corridor. The corridor will be created on the side of the line that is clicked.

Corridors will not be created if self-crossing lines would result.

The width of the corridor can be approximate or exact.

This command uses the following options:

Initial Measurement Reference for Projected Display

Distance Units and Precision

Results will generally be better using a projected coordinate reference system than with the Geographic (Lat/Lon) coordinate reference system which is not projected by definition.
