Save Project As (Project window)

Save the current state of the application in a project file.

A project file (.project) is a snapshot of all open sources at a particular time. It contains a list of data sources and their related data. Properties for project items, including the last geographic extents of the view, are displayed in the Properties window.

When a project is saved, a project user file (.puser) is automatically created to accompany the project. This file saves various settings related to the current state of the application to allow users to start a new work session with the application and data in the same state that it had been in at the end of the previous work session. The user file is created with the same file name as the project and saved to the same location.

The following information is saved in the project user file and applied when the related project is opened:

which layer is active

which layers are visible in the active 2D Display window

the coordinate reference system (CRS) of the active 2D Display window

the zoom level of the active 2D Display window

the center coordinate of the active 2D Display window

A warning message is displayed if the project user file cannot be found or cannot be used. The project file will be opened regardless, but without the project user settings applied.

See Project Window for more information on projects.
