Group / New Group

Pop-up

Group (Layers window)

Layers can be organized into groups, either by creating a group from an existing layer, or by creating a group layer and adding data layers to it. This can be useful, for example, to apply the display properties consistently to all layers in the group.

Groups can contain other groups.

A group layer is not drawn in the Display window, but the layers grouped under it can be displayed.

Procedure

To create a group from existing layers:

1. Right-click on a layer and select the Group command.

The new group layer is displayed with the name “New Group”. The original layer is listed under the group layer. The group layer can be renamed and other layers dragged into the group.

2. Double-click on the group layer to edit its name.

To create a new group without selecting an existing layer:

1. Right-click in the blank window area and select New Group from the pop-up menu to create a group to which you can add layers.

The new group is displayed in the Layers window, and is named New Group.
