Describe Band

The Describe Band tool takes a band as input and outputs some of its characteristics. This is useful if you need to use these characteristics in future processes. For example, you might want to create an empty band with the same characteristics as an existing band.

The Describe Band tool provides the following outputs:

Category (SCALAR, STRING_TABLE, DATE, DATE_TIME, COLOUR, FLAGSET, or UNKNOWN)

Unit (ch, cm, fm, ft, in, inm, km, m, mi, mm, nm, usfm, usft, usmi, usnm, usyd, yd, or CARIS:NONE)

Direction Type (ELEVATION, DEPTH, or NONE)

No Data Value (value that indicates no data is available for a node)

Min Value (the minimum value in the band)

Max Value (the maximum value in the band)

Numeric Type (INT8, UINT8, INT16, UINT16, INT32, UINT32, INT64, UINT64, FLOAT32, or FLOAT64)

Expression (a string with the expression used when calculating the band values, if applicable)

Values Table (a mapping of indices and values used for the band)

Colour Format (RGB, RGBA, Palette, Gradient, or CMYK)

Bits per Channel (number of bits per channel on the band)

The data type of some characteristics varies depending the category of band. Depending on the category, not all values may be set.
