Select by Lasso

Select features within a lasso, which is a user-defined irregular area. You define a lasso by clicking and dragging in the Display window to draw a shape around the relevant area in the data source. As you draw the lasso, a line segment will automatically be added connecting the starting point of the line and the current cursor location. This indicates the closing line segment for the lasso. All features that are completely or partially contained by the lasso are selected.

Procedure

1. Select the Select by Lasso command.

The cursor changes (  ).

2. Press and hold the left mouse button.

3. Drag the cursor to draw the lasso around the area you want to select.

4. Release the mouse button when the lasso is complete.

All features that intersect with or are enclosed by the lasso are selected.
