To create a reference model, you must define features such as alignments, points, surfaces and templates. These features are described in the topics listed below.

If creating multiple features of the same type, the Repeat New Feature command can be used to digitize multiple features without having to reselect the command each time. The command must be enabled before you begin digitizing the identical features. For more information, see the Repeat New Feature topic in the CARIS BASE Editor Reference Guide.

At any time during the creation of a reference model, the model can be viewed in the 3D view to validate new or changed features. If the model is changed in the 2D view while the 3D view is open, the displayed layer(s) will need to be turned off and back on again in the Layers window to apply the change in the 3D view.
