Rebuild Bounding Polygon Automatically

Menu

Tools > Coverages > Bounding Polygon > Rebuild Automatically

Pop-up

Bounding Polygon > Rebuild Polygon (Layers window)

This command enables you to automatically rebuild the bounding polygon of a surface if the current polygon is not suitable for the task at hand.

When you select this command, the application attempts to recreate the bounding polygon using specific criteria. The first attempt is made at six levels above the coarsest resolution of the surface.

The following criteria is used:

Fewer than 20 polygons in the bounding polygon

Fewer than 1500 points per polygon

No holes

No polygons with fewer than 3 cells

Any areas with fewer than three cells will not be included inside the bounding polygon.

If the bounding polygon cannot be created according to the above criteria, the application will continue trying until the polygon is created successfully, but with a resolution two levels coarser than each previous attempt.
