An exchange set is a platform-independent set of files suitable for use in electronic chart navigation systems. An exchange set is composed of one catalogue file and at least one dataset file. The catalogue file acts as a table of contents for the exchange set. Text (ASCII) and images (TIF) may be included in the exchange set if they are referenced by features in the S-57 file.
