The default size for soundings (1.45 mm at chart scale) will be used if there is no entry for size in the master file. Otherwise, all values (offsets and sizes) are in millimetres at chart scale based on the size of the sounding, as indicated in the master file.
If the sounding size is set, the offsets and sizes are scaled relative to the size value stated in the master file entry.
If no D or T records are supplied in the master file, the following defaults are used:
• size = 1.45 mm
• values for keywords as specified in the previous section
• the font specified in the uslXfont environment variable
• proportional spacing using the CARIS symbol file skeletons for kerning information
The master file supported by CARIS (ih_master.txt) has been updated to contain the above default values. You may need to update any feature codes which you have created.
If the new default values are not satisfactory, you may need to adjust the feature code entry in the master file.
