Create Limits and Boundaries Templates

You will have to license and enable the Limits and Boundaries module to use these templates.

You can create templates by defining one or more features and the symbols and representations used for them.

Use the Feature Palette to create a new palette, add groups for the various tools, then add features to the groups, then save the palette in the tools folder.

The tools folder is C:\Program Files\CARIS\HPD\<version>\system\LOSConfig\Tools.

Procedure

First create a new palette.

1. Select the Feature Palette.

2. From Tools, select New > Palette.

Now create a group for each tool.

Create a group

1. From Tools, select New > Group.

A new group is created.

2. Change the group name to that of a Limits and Boundaries tool.

3. Repeat until all tools have a group

.

Now save the feature palette.

1. From Tools, select Save As.

2. Browse to C:\Program Files\CARIS\HPD\<version>\system\LOSConfig\Tools.

3. Type a name for the template.

4. From Save as type, select XML File.

5. Click Save.

The template file is saved.

Create features

Now create and save features for each group.

1. Double-click on a group folder.

The empty group is opened.

Create the features for each group.

2. From Tools, select New > Feature.

The Feature Template Properties dialog box is displayed.

3. Type a name for the feature.

4. From the Object list, select a feature acronym.

The Type field and the attributes table are filled when you select the feature acronym. Depending on the feature, you may be able to select another type from the Type list.

5. Select and enter the attribute options and values needed.

6. Click OK or Apply.

7. Repeat for each feature needed in the group.

You can check the dialog box for each tool to determine how many feature templates are required.

8. From Tools, select Save.
