Any time a database object is deleted, it is added to the Recycle Bin layer. To completely remove an object from a database, it must also be deleted from here. Deleting an object from the Recycle Bin marks it for deletion in the database and it will be removed completely by the Purge process of BDB Server.
The Purge process runs automatically at regular intervals, searching the database for items marked for deletion. When found, they will then be completely deleted from the database. For more information, see the Purging Database Objects topic in the CARIS Bathy DataBASE Server Reference Guide.
Objects in the Recycle Bin layer are not displayed by default; the layer must be turned on manually to view its contents. Objects in this layer are only accessible to the user that deleted them and to administrators. Users with access to objects in this folder can:
• select and draw deleted objects in the display
• restore objects to the database query layer
• delete one or all deleted objects permanently
When a deleted object is selected in the Recycle Bin, you can view its attributes in the Attributes window.
