Terms Used

File Monitoring Interval

The interval in seconds that Onboard uses to regularly check for completion of a new file that is being recorded by the acquisition system. As the file is recorded, the size of the file will continually change. If there is no change in the file size during the specified wait period, Onboard will consider the file to be complete. Once deemed complete, Onboard can begin processing the file.

File Extension

The search filter that Onboard uses to find data files within the Monitor Directory. Only files with the specified file extension will be sent for processing.

If the File Extension is left empty, all files in the Monitor Directory will be processed.

This filter must be in the form of a Windows file extension. It can be in upper or lower case. Examples:

all

ALL

hsx

HSX

jsf

JSF

Job

A job is one or more data files that are processed according to the process model file.

Monitor Directory

The directory that Onboard monitors for new source files. Enter the full path to the directory where new data files will arrive. In typical configurations, this is set to the output directory of the acquisition system.

Onboard Product Directory

The location of the output products from Onboard (Bathy Surfaces, Mosaics, etc.).

Process

A process for CARIS Onboard contains the stored instruction with its parameters that CARIS Onboard can use to process survey files. Processes are normally grouped in appropriate sequences, and combined in a process model file.

Process Model File

A process model file is a sequence of processes and their associated configurations, connected in a logical sequence. Process models are stored as XML files with a file extension of "processmodel". Process model files are created in Process Designer and processed through the Onboard service, which can be monitored through Control Centre.

Recursive Directory Search

Use this option if the files will appear in sub-directories of the Monitor Directory. Some acquisition systems create hierarchies of data folders for the raw data files.

WAR

A WAR is a web application archive file with a file extension of .war.WARs are used by web servers to deploy a web application.
