The Components window displays spatial information about a superselected feature.
For line or area features, the spatial information includes the edges of the feature. If the Feature Editing module is enabled, you can use this window to manipulate the edges of a selected feature.
To select one or more edges:
5. Do one of the following:
• Click on the edge.
• Press <Ctrl> and click on several edges.
You can also select an edge in the Display window. Press and hold <C> and click on the edge of the superselected feature. The edge is highlighted in the Components window. |
When edges are selected, you can manipulate them using the pop-up menu:
Command | Description |
Toggle Closing | A closing edge is an artificial line that ends an area, for example at a product limit. The Toggle Closing command converts the selected edge to a closing edge. This command is only available if the selected feature is an area.
Select the Toggle Closing command a second time to undo the change. |
Toggle Mask | Masking hides edges to improve chart readability. The Mask command hides the selected edge or edges.
Select the Mask command a second time to undo the change. |
Edge | Return converted edges to the standard edge format. |
Geodesic | Convert edges to geodesics and vice versa. A geodesic is the shortest path between two points on a surface.

Loxodrome | Convert edges to loxodromes and vice versa. A loxodrome is a line crossing all meridians of longitude at the same angle, that is, a path derived from a defined initial bearing.
