New compound alignments can be created from selected lines from another layer. A straight alignment is created between each two points in each selected line, and the straight alignments created from a single input line are all combined into a compound alignment. Alignments created from a selection or superselection of features are imported directly into the active reference model.

Procedure
1. In the Layers window, select the layer displaying the lines to be imported.
In order to select reference model features other than templates, you must have a layer that includes the desired feature type(s) in its display filter. |
2. In the Display window, select one or more line objects.
3. Depending on the number of features to be imported, select the (New Alignment from) Superselection or Selection command.
The alignments are imported and a message is displayed in the Output window. The new alignments are added to the Points group in the Model window. If the direction of the imported line is not correct, the Reverse Direction command can be used to change the alignment after import. See Modify an Alignment for more information.
