The Import from Database command is used to import shoals from a selected database. Settings for the shoals being imported are defined by the SRA import file defined in Options. To edit the SRA import file, see Edit Record Association File.
To import shoals:
1. Select the Shoals layer in the Layers window.
2. Select the Import from Database command.
Menu | Tools > Engineering Analysis > Shoals > Import from Database |
Tool |
|
The Import from Database dialog box is displayed.

You can control which shoals are imported using the Import options:
• Import shoals in view cover: import all shoals in the database that are inside the area currently displayed in the Display window.
• Import shoals in database cover: import all shoals in the database.
• Import active shoals only: import only shoals with a status of Active to ensure only current shoals are applied.
3. Select an Import option.
4. [Optional] Click the check box for Active shoals only to enable the option.
The database from which the shoals are imported is controlled by your SRA file. This file controls the selected database and the attribute mapping settings. See Edit Record Association File for more information on SRA files.
5. [Optional] Click Browse (...) to select a different SRA file, if desired.
When the shoals are imported, a .shl file will be created for the shoals on your local machine. By default, the file will be saved to the Windows Temp folder the first time the command is run.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
This location can be changed using the Output file field, if desired.
6. [Optional] Click Browse (...) to define a name and location for the output file.
If the file name entered is already used by an existing file in the specified directory, a suffix will be added to the file name, numbering the file (for example, FileName (2).shl). This number will be incremented by one each time another file is created with the same name.
7. Click Import.
The selected shoals are imported. A layer is added to the Layers window with the assigned name and the .shl file is created in the specified location.
