A closing edge is a line that artificially ends an area, used, for example, when an area ends at the product limits instead of at the actual end of the area. Some closing edges are created automatically along the product limits, as follows:
• If you manually close an edge in the source, it will be carried over to the product as a closing edge.
• If a product is created by clipping a source, and an edge in the source falls on the boundary of the product, it will not be a closing edge.
• If a product is created by clipping a source, and an edge is inserted by the clipping process to close an area, it will be a closing edge.
You can set closing edges manually at the source or product level.
Edges marked as closing are useful for ECDIS systems where special symbolization can be used to draw them.
