Engineering Analysis : Creating and Modifying Model Features : New Point Features : New Point From Superselection/Selection

New Point From Superselection/Selection

New points can be created by importing data from existing feature objects. Points are imported, stored and displayed at the precision they were created in. If they were created at a precision less than the current resolution setting, the imported points are only corrected when they are used to create or modify features in your reference model (they are “snapped” to corrected points to match the current resolution settings).

Creating points from a selection or superselection of features imports the point geometries of the selected feature(s) as reference model points.

To create new points from a selection of features:

1. From the Layers window, select a feature layer.

2. In the Display window, select one or more feature objects.

3. Depending on the number of features selected, select the (Import Points from) Superselection or Selection command.

Menu

Model > New Feature > Point > Superselection/ Selection

Each point feature of the selected reference model feature is imported and a message is displayed in the Output window. The new points are added to the Points group in the Model window. The default naming convention for creating points is used.
