A product information file defines a product type. Each product has its own product information file.
When you use the Create S‑57 Product wizard, the options displayed in the dialog boxes are taken from the product information file.
By default, most product information files are located in ...\CARIS\BASE Editor\4.3\modules\Feature Editing\support\ ProductInfoFiles. Files specific to the Compose module are located in ...\CARIS\BASE Editor\4.3\modules\Feature Editing\support\ ProductInfoFiles. These are:
• S-101_draft_productinfo.xml
• S-121_1_0_productinfo.xml
• S-411_1_0_productinfo.xml
To use a custom product, you must create your own product information file or modify an existing one. For example, you could create a new product information file to create a Marine Information Overlay (MIO) or a digital survey sheet or modify an existing one to export an ENC using feet and fathoms rather than the default metres.
Define the location of your custom files using the Product Information option in the Options dialog box.
Once a product information file exists, the specialized product can be created using the Create S‑57 Product wizard.
A specialized product such as an MIO must have its own catalogue, including both a dictionary and profile. See Catalogues. |
The entries for the specialized product must follow the same structure and syntax as standard product types.
