Adjusting the Profile Display

The size of the Profile window can be changed to provide a better view of the profile. As the window changes, the view is automatically scaled and the axes values updated dynamically.

The vertical axis represents the height source of the profile and assigned a name in the Profile Settings dialog box.

The horizontal axis represents the length of the line feature being used to generate the profile. The unit of measure for the values on this axis are controlled by the Distance setting in the Display Units options.

To change the size of the window:

1. Move the cursor over any border or corner of the Profile window.

The cursor will change to a double-headed arrow.

2. Click and drag in the direction that you want the window to increase or decrease in size.

3. Release the mouse button when the window has reached the desired size and shape.

You can also adjust the display settings of the profile graph if the resulting graph does not meet the needs of the task. This is done by reopening the Profile Settings and adjusting the settings.

4. Right-click the profile graph in the Profile window and select Settings.

The Profile Settings dialog box is displayed. Note that the Apply button is now enabled.

5. Make any desired changes then click Apply to automatically view the affects on the profile graph without closing the dialog box.

6. If satisfied with the display, click OK to close the dialog box.

A profile, once ready, can be saved to an ASCII file or to an image file. See Export Profile for more information.
