Edges can be converted to geodesics or loxodromes, and vice versa.
A geodesic is the shortest path between two points on a surface.

A loxodrome is a line crossing all meridians of longitude at the same angle, that is, a path derived from a defined initial bearing.

Procedure
1. Superselect a line or area feature.
The edges of the selected feature are listed in the Components window.
2. In the Components window, select one or more edges.
To select multiple edges, hold <Ctrl> as you click.
3. Right-click and select the edge type you want from the pop-up menu.
The edge is converted to the selected type.
